The degeneration and tear of the long head of the biceps tendon (LGBT ) are intra -articular common findings, and surgery, including biceps tenodesis or tenotomy is beneficial. A new shoulder arthroscopic technique can be performed through a portal, while the previous edition of a posterior portal:
( 1) View the intraarticular biceps tendon .
( 2) Identify the segment of the LGBT community will expand .
( 3) Use a stick modulation handkerchief to enlarge the tendon.
( 4) Evaluate the enlarged diameter segment. Should be twice the original diameter .
( 5) Cut the biceps tendon at the proximal end of the segment on a larger scale.
( 6) See the tendon in the tunnel.
( 7) Identify and reduce the rest of the biceps tendon stump. Seventeen cadaveric shoulders were used to compare the tensile strength , rigidity and movement of the output with respect to the biceps tenodesis tenotomy .
There was a significant increase in tensile strength for biceps tenodesis group output tenotomy .
This technique is used to treat operatively LGBT intra-articular pathology in patients who could benefit from biceps tenodesis traditional and can reduce shrinkage of the distal biceps tendon.
